Efika 5200B Project
Scalabe mesh node

Project Summary
I\'m currently research on ad hoc protocols to build mesh wireless networks to my master thesis. I\'m using a board based on MIPS architecture. I would like to port the software to the Efika because I want to add more features like asterisk to provide wireless telephony. The board use two or three wireless cards so the performance would be affected. The Efika have, I think, enough resources to handle the data workload and the signal processing algorithms of the pbx.

I have tested a pci bridge card to have two or three radios to avoid lost of bandwidth when adding nodes to the network but it still not working due to some irq problem so I'm using temporarily one 802.11g pci card.
I have tested the Efika working in station, AP and ad-hoc mode. I have implemented a web configuration page. I am trying to do something similar to webif from openwrt project with Apache as the webserver.

I am taking into account the possibility of power the Efika with PoE through an injector so the PSU must support input of 48V.
The first power supply designed works ok and is capable of deliver 60W but is only accept input of 12V. It is not suitable for car environments or PoE.
I am designing a new PSU based in recently measurements. I have measeured peaks of 1.5A in the 5V rail and 1A in the 3.3V so is really not necessary the expensive pico PSU.

I'm currently selecting additional hardware like the pci - mini pci board and power supply.
Next time I´ll publish power consumption of a system with 3 wireless cards (I'm testing CM9).
