Project Summary
We could use 20 EFIKA boards to build a 16 node LittleFe. You can learn more about LittleFe at http://www.genesippc.com/files/little-fe-ppc.pdf

Thanks for considering this idea.

  Update to the Efika/LittleFe project
posted by charliep on 8th December 2006

We would like 40 Efika boards. Our plan is to make 4, 8 node LittleFe units (the rest are for spares/testing), which are used to teach high performance computing and computational science to a range of 9-12, undergraduates, and faculty.

Our current PPC and x86 based models are relatively large and heavy (about 50 pounds) compared to we will be able to do with the Efika boards. This will enable us to make units that transport /very/ easily, extending the reach of our work into otherwise inaccessible places.

We've also had a couple of contacts from the developing world about our project and our belief is that an Efika based unit would be best for that environment. You can learn more at http://LittleFe.net

Thanks.
