  Possible Requirements for this project
posted by gerrynjr on 15th April 2006

Lately I've been thinking about the requirements for this project. I've come up with the following list:
-Efika Board with possibly an on board graphics chip for output of information received by the mesh.
-USB Prism2 based wireless card (for the time being)
-12 volt power supply or power inverter for use on an automobile
-possibly a screen when/if it gets installed into a vehicle.

Initial tests will be done in house between my home systems and the efika for testing of the mesh network. Once it has been proven other ideas will be tested.

Uses for this project include:

-Real time traffic updates passed from vehicle to vehicle.
-Emergency vehicle approaching alert (for specially equipped emergency vehicles)
-Car is about to run a red light alert (for specially equipped intersections)

The above ideas will be tested. In a real world scenario, however, the emergency vehicle would require an on board efika board, and the intersection scenario would also require an efika system, but with a camera to detect if an oncoming car has been stopped or not.
