Hi all,

My EFIKA is in Poland now, but it was stopped at the border and customs officers want to impose some entrance duty on it.

Has anyone had this kind of problems?

Yes, we have had this problem in Italy, Portugal and Greece. But, don't worry. In all cases, we have been able to fix the problem, which is usually created by a local broker who is trying to cheat the recipient out of a bit more money. We let FedEx handle that...:-)

Be patient! It is coming!

I've received a phone from FedEx representative and she said that she will send me an e-mail with details, but she didn't :) So I phoned her and then she said that I should send them some 'documents'.

I'm a little bit anxious as I don't have very good opinion about my government so I don't know what kind of troubles I should expect :D

There may be a couple more hassles, but it won't be long and we will make the system work!

The same happen for my Efika also in EU-based country, but FedEx assured me that I'll not pay anything as it is "sponsored computer". I just needed to provide agreement that they are allowed to do customs for me and in addition that it's really computer and the price is in USD. :-) Since custom tax for computers is zero in EU, what's only needed is to pay VAT. And FedEx will do this for me and send invoice to sender, i.e. Genesis. Or at least that was the last information I got from them. The needed documents (at least here) were: 1) agreement between me and FedEx for making customs. 2) clearance that the package is really computer with price XY in US$. Also I needed to send them copy of my identity card. So definitely wait for documents from FedEx! I hope Bill that this is OK for you and that Freescale will pay you those additional payments.
Thanks,
Karel

That is the plan. We just spoke to FedEx about all the boards sitting in Poland (16).

A FedEx representative called me yesterday, and then sent an e-mail with a document, which I've filled, signed, scanned and sent back. This document is an agreement saying that I allow FedEx agents to represent me at Custom Office, nothing more. You will also need to send them scans of your identity card (dowód osobisty). Then they want paper versions of both, signed agreement and id card xerocopy, sent via snail mail in 5 days. I guess that is all and you won't pay anything.

Hi all!

Bill, sorry, I imagine to be the 1000th to be asking this, but still... I'm in Italy, and hearing of the possible shipping problems I started to think at how to track the package in its long-and-difficult journey.

How do other developers get information from FedEx? Did you all get a package code by mail?

...sorry to bother you all, I'm just no expert in this. :/

Thanks Raquel :)

Am I supposed to receive the FedEx tracking number by mail, once the package will be shipping? Again, sorry, I'm being anxious for nothing.. :)

Thanks,

-- Devon
