Hello,

I built gitorious efikasb-10.08.00 and it is working fine, but i am getting LVDS messages from kernel.

Packages are available at http://emdebian.org/~zumbi/docs/efikamx/

If you install the packages, you might either test flash-kernel from http://xxxx/ or you might want to manually run:
Code:
cd /boot
cp uImage uImage.bak
cp uInitrd uInitrd.bak

sudo mkimage -A arm -O linux -T kernel -C none -a 0x90008000 -e 0x90008000 -n "Efika kernel" -d vmlinuz-2.6.31.14.3-efikasb uImage

sudo mkimage -A arm -O linux -T ramdisk -C gzip -a 0x0 -e 0x0 -n "Efika initrd" -d initrd.img-2.6.31.14.3-efikasb uInitrd
Here my dmesg output

Hello,

I built gitorious efikasb-10.08.00 and it is working fine, but i am getting LVDS messages from kernel.

Packages are available at http://emdebian.org/~zumbi/docs/efikamx/

If you install the packages, you might either test flash-kernel from http://packages.efikamx.info/
Kernel will be up in a couple hours too. However, that repo is a little unstable right now (we're still configuring it, I just posted it to IRC so people could get a grip on what we're doing :)

Ignore LVDS Initialize Fail!, it is just because it was already initialized (otherwise it does an EDID check again). It doesn't fail so much as skip initialization. We're rewriting that driver to be less braindead :)

What is the correct way to install it?
Code:
echo deb http://packages.efikamx.info/ maverick main >> /etc/apt.sources.list
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
Is this OK? Or I need different settings, more commands...

I wouldn't do a dist-upgrade :)

apt-get install linux-image-2.6.31.14.7-efika{mx,sb}-10.08.00

will do, probably.

It'll work.

On Smartbook: battery gauge issues and the pixel offset panel bug. There are also some stability fixes and GPU updates.

No. Just don't suspend for now. If you close the lid and set it to blank screen instead of Suspend, you will get around 7-8 hours of battery life anyway.

It will probably NOT be released in the immediate future as there are licensing and certification issues to tend to.

the right place to append the repository address in my Smartbook with Maverick is:
Code:
/etc/apt/sources.list
so the command ,must be:
Code:
echo deb http://packages.efikamx.info/ maverick main >> /etc/apt/sources.list
In my case after that I have write:
Code:
apt-get install linux-image-2.6.31.14.7-efikasb

I think si better to have a signature for
http://packages.efikamx.info/ repository

Becouse without signature the proposed update will be not possible to perform .

It make the update only with
Code:
sudo apt-get upgrade

After installing kernel 2.6.31.14.7 I still see the not used 5 pixel on the button of the lcd, the battery calculation time is wrong as usual.

I have make the upgrade and installed specifically imx-lib,libz160, but I couldn't see any improvement in 2D in the game like SMC, it is still unusable.

Are you sure, that your SB runs on the latest kernel now? As for me both problems are fixed after the update.
Code:
czanik@czp-laptop:~$ uname -a
Linux czp-laptop 2.6.31.14.7-efikasb #12 Sat Nov 13 10:53:10 CST 2010 armv7l GNx

In fact was the first things that I have reflect to, so last night I have checked the directory
Code:
/boot
and I have found 2.6.31.14.7-efikasb, and I have made
Code:
uname -a
, but if I don't remember well the only strange things was that with uname I don't saw .7 only 2.6.31.14, but was late... so this night I will check again, I will be probably tired like last night... :D

Another things that I must check is the suffix -10.08.00 of the kernel, becouse when I have installed the kernel I have not specify the suffix.

Thanks

Roberto

after add the repository, install the new kernel, is needed to make uImage and uInitrd, as suggested from zumbi:
Code:
cd /boot
cp uImage uImage.bak
cp uInitrd uInitrd.bak

sudo mkimage -A arm -O linux -T kernel -C none -a 0x90008000 -e 0x90008000 -n "Efika kernel" -d vmlinuz-2.6.31.14.7-efikasb uImage

sudo mkimage -A arm -O linux -T ramdisk -C gzip -a 0x0 -e 0x0 -n "Efika initrd" -d initrd.img-2.6.31.14.7-efikasb uInitrd
After that i have reboot SB and doing
Code:
roby@efikamx:~$ uname -a
Linux efikamx 2.6.31.14.7-efikasb #12 Sat Nov 13 10:53:10 CST 2010 armv7l GNU/Linux
Appear the right kernel and in fact the 5 pixel at bottom now are fixed! good!

Other improvement now when I shut down I can see the message power down, still without switch off the SB, anyway an improvment.
