...and you Folks did a great job to get things started!

Unfortunately, Krashan did not have the MPC5121e board in time. It has been in Poland more than a week, but it takes time to get things through Customs.

We are looking forward to Krashan having the board, and you being able to demo it at the next PowerDev Meeting in Poland.

R&B :)

First of all thanks to all the people visited us at PowerDev #2.

We were overrun by people who wanted to participate with their own systems. It took some management but I think it worked out best for all.

During the event we had loads of talks about all kind of problems and solutions. We had a blender workshop and showed DVD authoring using MorphOS on Pegasos systems.

I would call this event a big success and we are looking forward to see this amount of power and all those ideas grow in the near future, when MorphOS 2.0 will be released to the masses.

The Efika 8610 board is the successor of the pegasos 2 everyone is waiting for. That was very clear from the beginning. Many thanks to Ingo 'Skyrider' Hoppe for updating the OS and showing the system in action. The Efika 5121e (aka Efika2) was more or less seen as basic system to get in touch with the PowerPC architecture. Well, in my opinion the Efika is underestimated by people only seeing the specs. The Efika combined with MorphOS is a powerful system and thats what we tried to show the audience. And I think it worked well, as we frequently got asked which system is running now.

Special thanks to BBRV, Freescale and Genesi/bPlan making this event possible.

Thanks!

Geit

Guido has brought it to the point, it was a fantastic meeting, the atmosphere was great, and it was an interesting experience to see the developerboards in action, especially the very powerful 8610. As said by Guido, MorphOS 2.0 and Efika are fitting perfectly together, so I can't wait to see both together in "real" action.
Many, many thanks to Geit and all people involved who made this event possible. Also thanks to Michal Bergseth, who came from Norway to join us.

Yes, i can confirm - it was a very interessting meeting and well organised.
Many Thanks to Guido !
I was very surprised how fast MOS works on Efika, beacause before i only saw it running with linux
and there the performance was not very convincing.
The 8610 Developer Board was noticeable faster than the pegasos 2, both running under debian.
This could be the successor of the Pegasos, if an end user board will be available this year.
But if this release needs much more time and for high-end usage, i would prefer a MPC8641 or 8641D based System.
Is something like that planned in the "roadmap" ?

Thanks to geit for this event and demoing MorphOS 2.0, Freescale and genesi/bplan for the developer boards.
It was nice to see all the people in RL ;)
As i already own an EFIKA MPC5200B i can't wait to get MorphOS2.0 for it.
We had much fun/interesting discussion on this meeting and i hope geit will make another one, when MorphOS 2.0 is available.
Looking forward to see an EFIKA/Pegasos 8610.

We had plenty of good feedback from the Event. We like to start planning a couple more Events. There would be one in Hungary to be followed by one in the Czech Republic. It looks like there will be another one in Poland again soon. If you would like to host a PowerDev Meeting, please let us know.

R&B :)

Amiga-news.de have posted images and videos about the show. Check out the fantastic video report from AmitopiaTV, which is downloadable and even enjoyable online!

On Geit.de additional images from PowerDev #2 are available.

UPDATE:

Now there is also a funny DVD available for download.

The DVD was created during the meeting and contains not much "live video" to keep it short. Its just a demo made by Carsten 'PegasosSigi' Siegner to show how animated menus and video DVDs can be mastered on Pegasos using MorphOS and only MorphOS.

This even included a real blue screen effect. The blue screen we set-up was created by using two bed sheets. Even with the limited time, lighting and using bed sheets it looks quite nice for a non money invested production. :)

Thanks Carsten for the nice work! And of course for teaching other people how to use Blender. Thanks!

Geit
