Ok here is something interesting.. those X errors were related to some weird wacom tablet driver that somehow got added to my xorg.confg.

SO it seems the xserver is ok, but i'm still getting a black screen when I go to Watch tv.....

For lirc, I use lirc0.8.0 on Gentoo and it works.
You must have a /etc/lircd.conf config file for it to work.
To test your remote control, do a "irw" command and test keys.

As said Marcel, you have to run mythtv-setup to fill in the database, then mythbackend, and then mythfrontend.
Anyway, please read the manuals here for your MythTV setup :
http://www.mythtv.org/modules.php?name=MythInstall
Everything is explained.

Note, here I use MythTV 0.19_p9163.

Here is my lircd.conf (PVR350 section) :

I GOT IT WORKING! \o/

:-D

It seemed it was some database stuff with mythtvfilldatabase working properly. Also that weird stuff in xorg (wacom tablet drivers was a strange bug)

So my Kernel is 2.6.15-23-powerpc with IVTV 4.2 compiled from source.

Thank you Geoffrey and Frostwork! :-D

I have my remote control for the pvr 350 coming in and cant wait to try it with LIRC. Thanks for the config file Geoffrey. I have copied and pasted your config to my config in /etc/lirc.

I will also give the PVR 350 svideo out a shot to see how that looks/works..

I will try. BTW How is your playback speed on LiveTVI get near realtime but there are stutters and lag sometimes on playback and slight audio delay.. but really works ok. Anyway to speed it up? I havent tried to schedule a recording yet but will do it soon.

The cool thing would be that you would create .deb packages for MythTV and lirc when it will work, so that we could add it to the pegubuntu repository.

http://wikipeg.free.fr/pegubuntu/dists/pegubuntu/main/

That makes me thing that it would be cool to make a Linux Ubuntu LiveCD that boots with MythTV, ivtv and lirc packages..

Geoffrey

Myth TV and LIRC are already in the ubuntu despositories. You can even use Synaptic or apt-get to install them. The real serious issue is IVTV. LIRC is not a cakewalk either apparently.

My main concnern atm is speeding up live tv. It looks as if Mythtv uses Mplayer for playback, how to accelrate this? Or is it possible to use xine or something faster?

magnetic

Also, I dont have the IVTV-fb module either how to install this? Its needed for PVR350 vid out and I must say its probably alot better looking than the vid card out. I ran the vga out to a converter and watching tv with composite out on that on the tv looks better than on my lcd..

Well here is something truly weird. I tested out my first scheduled recording and mythtv crashes and drops me to shell with a seg fault??? see this:
Quote:
Destroying SipFsm object

2006-09-03 22:39:49.756 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543 (try 1 of 5)

2006-09-03 22:40:22.802 New DB connection, total: 2
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (out): 0x37926008 ***
Aborted
What can be the problem? All i do is move the cursor in the media library section to playback my recording..

magnetic

ps to record a 1 hr show how much hard drive space is needed?
