MeeGo 1.0 is ready, see: http://meego.com/community/blogs/imad/2 ... ct-release

It is not just an xterm any more :-) An image for the Nokia N900 is available, which is ARM based, so I'll give it another try on EFIKA MX -- if time permits.

Just a side note: the build infrastructure behind MeeGo is the openSUSE Build Service, a very powerful and easy to use system for software developers.

OK, I have a reference platform running. As I don't have an N900, it is a Dell netbook. I did not have time to examine all the details, but at a first glance it looks very nice and quick. The next step is to use it on the netbook a few days and then try to convert the N900 image to something bootable on the EFIKA MX.

MeeGo 1.0 seems to come in three flavors on ARM:

- core: this is pretty much the same as a month ago (an xterm), just the packages are more recent. I got it up and running on my EFIKA MX, and this time it ran fine, without crashing

- full: it is only available with a Nokia N900 serial number from the MeeGo website, so obviously I could not test it

- beagle board version: crashes badly on my EFIKA, just as the core version a month ago.

So there is some improvement, but I'm waiting for the 1.1 version :-) This is being worked on, both the headset and the tablet edition. For details, please check http://www.linuxfordevices.com/c/a/News ... vironment/
