I have done a conversion of a opengl windows app to osx. The hardest part was to get it to work with the osx framework. With the windows api available it should be much easier.
my point is that imho you underestimate the amount of problems that endianness differences will bring to the surface.
Why not just run the processor in little endian mode...?

Little endian ppc isn't so bad when you get to know it.
From PowerPC-Old
;)
But, IIRC, this will become problematic on G5, right?

On the other hand we don't have G5 and since Power5+ there is a little endian mode again. :o)

The problems might be that it requires far more than just OS support (you need to turn the endian-mode on for the northbridge too) and swapping endian-mode at runtime therefore is not as easy as flipping a switch.

However, it is as easy as flipping TWO switches if you pick the right hardware to start from.

Not sure if our SmartFirmware really supports anything but big-endian mode.. but you can flip-flop a Mac to do it, it just won't run MacOS afterwards.
