After happily being able to compile a 2.6.19-kernel for the EEFIKA, using the tips from the "Efika OpenFirmare and Linux Howto", I had a look at the .config file which was in use for that process. Now I am puzzled after I found
in file .config as well as in linux-2.6.19rc6_config:
... lines snipped
# CONFIG_PPC_52xx is not set
... lines snipped
Then later
http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... php?t=1339
suggesting "zImage" as make target.
My Question: Which then are the one switches, that tell the compiler to compile for an Efika-target?

Hi.

For the 2.6.19 kernel, you should just select "6xx/7xx/74xx" in "processor support", after which a menu "platform support" becomes available. There you can select the "bPlan Efika 5k2. MPC5200B based computer".

Best regards,
Johan

Thanks Johan!

In File .config I can find right at the top:
....
CONFIG_PPC_MERGE=y
.... which apparently has to do with patch #0001 from the efika-patches.
.... and further down:
#
# Platform support
#
CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM=y
....
CONFIG_PPC_CHRP=y
CONFIG_PPC_EFIKA=y
....

You're right:
.... Must search it under
Platform support ---> *RIGHT*
.... rather than under
Processor support ---> #WRONG#

Our topic resembles the homo sapiens - erectus - neanderthalensis discussions! It's difficult to understand the genealogy ;-)

Thanks again!
