openSUSE 11 alpha0 is just appearing on mirrors. Before you rush to try it, don't :-(

- on Pegasos the graphical installer loads, but crashes in the background leaving an hourglass on screen

- on EFIKA network installation does not work due to lack of network driver

I'm checking if I could work around these and will file the necessary bugreports...

Thank you! Bug reports are filed.

Today finally there is also some progress in the '64bit issue. The problem seems to be in zypper patch handling.

Factory is still badly broken, can't be installed on the Pegasos or EFIKA, and I know, that it won't make you happy, but it is also broken on x86. For those addicted to testing, I'll try to prepare a little present for Christmas, if I can finish it this afternoon :-)

zypper bug: the 64bit issue I mention in http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... =9570#9570 has another interesting workaround. Of course, one needs to remove any installed 64bit packages, just as earlier, but then instead of editing the locks file, one can use the '-t package' option of zypper.
Code:
zypper -v up -t package
This has the advantage doing distribution and Packman upgrades in one go, but results in a slightly larger download (official upgrades come in 'patch' form, which is smaller than downloading full packages).
