Efika 5200B Project
Small network email filter

in category Applications & Software
proposed by Dermot Coffey on 13th October 2006 (accepted on 18th October 2006)

Project Summary
A drop in solution for email scanning for a small scale network. Using open source solutions it would provide email, virus and spam scanning by acting as a proxy for email connections.

Methods of configuration would ideally be some form of web based configuration utility, either a pre built solution such as webmin, or something more specific to the task.

Further development would move towards some form of webmail system for remote connections and a sensible method of updating the base image and components to allow for upgrades.

After I signed up to the project my life changed some what leaving me with much less free time. Since receiving the EFIKA board it has spent a great deal of time off. That's not to say that the time has not been wasted. I continue to work with mail systems and have a clear idea of where I want to go with the project. I just need to find a little time. The good news is the reason I'm writing this, apart from getting a reminder email :), is that I have been getting some of my time back. Not much, there are always jobs I need to do that come before my hobbies, but enough to start thinking some more about this project.

My EFIKA board has arrived, in fact it arrived last week, unfortunately, I won't really have time to play with it until after Christmas/New Year as this period of time has me traveling a lot.

In the new year, I'll get to work.
