Hello Raquel and Biil :)

This is some good news....

But I have a question :
Is there a chance to have any videos showing the MX Efika working with some programs, in particular with the Cloud City:). Just as was the case with promotion Efika 5200B. I am interested in new Efika. I Would be nice to see it in action

Neither.

i.MX51 has 2D and 3D acceleration cores from AMD/ATI. Download the reference manual here for more details:

http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/sit ... tation_Tab

The 2D IP is Z160/G12, the 3D is Z430 (ATI Yamato DX)

thank you very much. that's what i expected, but that article i referred to earlier really threw in a conundrum.

ps: qualcomm are the current owner of the AMD mobile gpu division.

I couldn't find information for the HDMI output. Can I a use 1920x1200@60Hz output for my regular LCD connect by DVI?

Regards,

Markus

i asked a while ago and if i remember correctly, matt said you could have a desktop with that size but video would be 720.

Too bad.. :-(

I would have bought it, if the GPU would be better supported, i.e. open source drivers! Maybe I'm spoiled with my Intel and Radeon graphics cards...

This is unfair! Where does it say that the EfikaMX is a regular desktop computer? Moreso, I don't think high definition video would change anyone's life...

why cant it be a desktop ? high def video isnt a requirement, but would be nice incase someone does find some high def video. and i think high def displays are becoming the norm for the desktop.

Hi.

Because of the simple reason that it is not powerful enough to be a fully fledged desktop.
It can handle 1680x1050, which is enough for thin client use (http://projects.powerdeveloper.org/project/imx515/731), and pretty much a lot of other things that come to mind.

If you want to be able to have a be all end all desktop, with 1080p capabilities etc, get a high end PC with a couple of graphics cards a nice Quad Core, 8Gig or more of ram and a beast of a power supply.

It's not what this device is targeted at, just like the first Efika wasn't. It's a low power computing device, which performs excellent for what it is intended to do.
