Hi Folks, next week is the first big week for Project reviews. Not only will the site be specifically reviewed by Freescale, but three new Corporate Sponsors as well. Of course, Sponsors won't be able to endorse, fund or support your Project if you don't tell us about it!

Please Update Your Project Page!

Thanks!

R&B :)

After this weekend, the "Big List" will be gone and a lot of projects will be recategorized and displayed on the front page of Projects in a kind of syndication/planet style.

We will all notice if you update your blog; and also if you do not :D

Will we be able to syndicate our own site blog to the "planet" you guys are setting up?

Unfortunately not. It simply takes blog posts from the different project categories and puts them on a categorised page. It's not really syndication in that sense, but it's the same theory.

One of the problems with Planets is that if a bunch of - for example - Gentoo developers have a blog, and they are on the Gentoo Planet, you get technical posts mixed with personal posts. There is no way a true RSS syndication feed can filter them out by category properly, even if it is tagged correctly, the tags may be misleading or a post may wander into other subjects.

We will be trying to keep the Projects site about Projects, and display only posts about Projects, to start with.

However.. it will be possible to allow developers to assign an external blog to the Projects system and rather than display their entire blog post, simply refer to the topic and provide a short link (i.e. it will be marked as a Syndicated blog post), just not to start with. Depending on the blog software you're using there is a LOT to take into account on how it handles tags, categories and so on, since RSS is so flexible.

We have some incompatibility between Apache libapr and the SVN libapr and the BDB library they're both built with.

We also plan to have GIT, the basic mixup is that we need to use DAV for authentication for both, and it doesn't work if mod_dav_svn is expecting a different version of BDB than the one Apache was built with.

Dependency hell :D

We have it "fixed" in a test environment but not rolled it out on the server yet.
