While the openSUSE 10.2 installer does not work (yet) on EFIKA, it's still possible to use it. Patches for the 2.6.19 kernel work with the 2.6.18 SUSE kernel with some careful hand editing of sources. Prebuilt kernels are available for download, which differ from the original SUSE kernel only by the MPC5200B drivers.

This represents a lot of hard work over the last month and particularly over the Holidays. Thanks Peter!

It was my pleasure! openSUSE runs nicely on EFIKA, one just needs to choose carefully the window manager. Once loaded, part of KDE runs as expected, but most of the time it's quite slow due to extensive swapping. XFCE is a lot better choice, that leaves enough RAM for a browser or an office application. I could also watch bplan movie about building EFIKA full screen, but without sound, as I could not get the sound driver compiled with the SUSE kernel.
Network performance is excellent and using the patched SUSE kernel, HDD performance was a lot better, than on other distributions I tested.
I hope to get the 'factory' installer working on EFIKA in early January, and probably also a backport to 10.2, as 10.3 is still far away.
