Have you seen Blastwave's Dennis Clarke gorgeous all steel case? BBRV talked about it in his latest blog. The case has a sticker reading "www.livewirecomputer.com", but this company doesn't seem to sell it, only Sun servers.
Want to see an insanely detailed photo? Check http://www.blastwave.org/dclarke/blog/i ... el_001.jpg. Change number 1 to 2 and 3 for additional photos.

wow and you can actually buy this case (blue or black) with an efika inside and other goodies. It would be nice to be able to purchase the case alone. I truly like it, simple and very tiny !

The price of $499USD (383Euros) can seem expensive but it is not if you consider the price of all the components included :

Efika : 160 Euros
PSU+Adapter: 120 Euros
Gfx (9200 AGP) : 55 Euros
HD ST980815A : 70 Euros
Total => 405 Euros >> 383

As you see, that gives us a free case !
Thanks blastwave ;-)

It is great that we have some one making a market of a complete system. We don't think Dennis is trying to get rich, but he *is* developing a business. One look at Blastwave and this ought to tell everyone where the long term market opportunity is. We hope to have many partners like Blastwave and LiveWire.

Dennis wants a solid case for people who are looking for a total solution. It is a one-stop shop. It should be that way everywhere! We like the case and it paves the way for others. Nice work Dennis!

R&B :)

Looks like some of the boxes at Conrad. Are the parts from there? If yes, do you have part numbers for the box and the reset/power buttons?

@bbrv: I like this black case :-)
And also the other one (gray/metallic) you posted on your blog.
When will all those nice cases be available for sale from Genesi (and at what price) ?

@Mind_of_Illusion : so, how is your project going ?
Have you started building the case for real ?
We want pictures :-)

@all: Well, I was wondering if I was going to make my-own-design case, but now I'm not so sure it's not better to wait for buying others one now :-)

PS: for French (or European people), I've found another shop selling those PicoPSU :
http://www.itx-france.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=61
There is a 60W one a bit less expensive (but still quite expensive with the AC adapter).

After another few weeks I had the chance (I don't own an useful camera) to make pictures of my final case.

The new pictures show the power and drive LEDs which are taken from an Amiga500. Also the IRDA port is mounted. It is also shown that there is no external power supply, which wasn't beleaved by some people.

I got many requests to show the inside in more detail, so hope this is what you wanted to see! ;)

http://www.geit.de/eng_efikase.html

Just a note for the case designers around:

There is no need to add two buttons for reset and power. Just take a normal PC switch, which has two or three different switches inside. (As you can see on the pictures, my case only has one switch.)

So pressing the button both ciruits (reset and power) get closed. You will cause power on when system is off. Pressing short causes system to reset and pressing long causes the system to shutdown.

The only side effect is that pressing the button will always cause a reset and there is no way in rethinking and stopping the shut down by releasing a normal power button.

Well, before ordering make sure the PicoPSU, is not limited to 12V input.

Most external power supplies are a little off, so the savty switch inside the
PicoPSU will shut off. And even 11.5 or 12.5 may cause the PicoPSU to shut down.

Make sure you get a version that supports at least 11V to 15V. IMHO non fixed are 8V to 18V.

Those ensure you can use the Efika inside a Car, too. By using the 12V fixed input version
thats impossible.

Don't try to save money here! A friend of me is very unhappy with his fixed input psu and I bet he will buy a new in the near future.
