Hi,
I can add this to this thread as well (for Dapper):-)
As it seems now mkvmlinuz is working properly again since version 23 (maybe it did work earlier, dont know, Sven L should know I think

) the following works easely as well.
Got to:
http://packages.ubuntu.com as pegxlindev suggested earlier.
In the search-field fill in
mkvmlinuz and choose Distribution
edgy
Download mkvmlinuz version 23
Then open a terminal window and type:
# sudo dpkg -i mkvmlinuz_23ubuntu2_powerpc.deb
Give your password as requested
mkvmlinuz version 23 will be installed.
Run now in the terminal window:
# sudo mkvmlinuz
The Pegasos II CHRP-kernel will be generated, and a symlink
vmlinuz pointing to the
recent kernel installed will also be generated.
You can now load this symlink from the Pegasos II firmwareprompt. Use this bootstring as template:
# boot hd:X boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hdaX splash
From now on new installed kernel-updates will be used after restart, as the chrp-kernel should be generated and the symlink updated as well.
Note also considering the grub2 script I posted about before and on Pegasos.org as well:
You can still use it of course to load the 'clean' kernel Ubuntu do provide. And you can also still use it for loading the Dapper PowerPC Desktop LiveCD released on the 1st of June.
As I hope everybody can see, it is several various option to choose from now
