i was think the picoPSU would be good, but there is a little problem. theyre as rare as hens teeth in australia

I designed the first case around that concept.

However second design will revolve around space for a larger PSU (ITX size) because there is the larger issue that if we use PicoPSU we need to buy 12V adapters for every country, plug socket, voltage etc. in the world which is significantly more time consuming, expensive and unreliable than buying a simple IEC kettle lead.

That and the case is too short, I didn't take into account the PCI clearance specs and I need to add 5mm or so to the top of the chassis. This will make some things much easier too.

Oh well. Back to the drawing board.

I was thinking of having the bottom as the enclosure like what you made just for the efika and having the top cover covering all the additional bits and pieces like PSU and extra harddrives. When i download sketchup i might draw up the idea

I meant that if it has support to mount IDE and SATA devices in the OF as read-only :).

silentpcreview seems to like the picoPSU a lot. I thought the article interesting enough to mention here.

what are the dimensions for the nominal size for the disk cloner? The picoPSU looks fairly decent but its a but hard to get your hands on. I queried about 6 weeks ago and the cheapest i could get one for was $150 AUD + shipping, with shipping at about $30.

In other words, EFIKA can now support SCSI in a small enclosure as well :).

I have already made contact with a local metalworking company who are interested in creating a couple of prototype cases. Once I get my project efika :) I'll take it over and get them started. BTW that was not my original project, that is still going ahead :)
But as my university has now ordered some efika's too, and as we intend to do field trials, I guess we'll need some cases so I thought I'd share my plans :D

Rather an expensive solution, when you could just get an ordinary cheap Ultra2 SCSI card for PCI.

Looks quite nice indeed, but the price ~85 Euros, is not that nice especially considering possible usage of old retired PC case for Efika-based software development. For new case, this is another question and fan-less is always better...
