Hi everyone,

Thanks to the hard work and generosity of wschaub, I'm running Wheezy on my Smartbook and loving it.

I have a personal project where I will be using the Smartbook to access a Mac Mini via VNC, so I will need some kind of graphical server. I'm familiar with xorg, but is there anything else that would consume less resources on the Smartbook? My first thought was attempting to run a VNC viewer on a framebuffer, but I haven't done any RTFM on that to see if it's possible. :)

Thanks,

Josh

Hi.

Running X on and by itself (with e.g., a simple window manager) to run a VNC client does not consume too many resources. The acceleration you get when doing so probably alone will make it much better than just running a framebuffer.

I ran X with no window manager and only a VNC viewer with great success back in 1999, I'm sure it is still quite possible.
