Hello

I recently tried the Android bootable SD card and was amazed to see the capabilities of the 3d accelerator built into the Efika.

However whenever I try and run anything graphical on my normal Ubuntu install it is extremely laggy. Could someone help with with rectifying this? I would like to play Supertuxkart etc :)

I imagine this is something to do with drivers. I have tried running updates but these fail. I will try and find the exact fail message tonight.

Thanks

The vast majority of software in the Ubuntu repositories, despite being compiled for ARM, actually targets the Mesa 3D graphics library for OpenGL (as in Desktop OpenGL rather than Embedded OpenGLES) which means it's all software rendering.

You would have thought the guys at Canonical would spend some time getting around this but they didn't. Since we are not exactly the size of HP or Google, we don't have the resources to do this ourselves, but Ubuntu pledge to support ARM processors, they just don't go as far as caring if everything works okay or excising packages for the time being that just plain run like poop.
