Openembedded now has EfikaMX as one of supported machines.

MACHINE=efikamx DISTRO=minimal bitbake x11-image

...generated bootloader, kernel and root file system, which when put on SD card boots openembedded.

A detailed writeup on Openembedded Wiki on getting OE on efikaMX is WIP.

You spelled Genesi wrong :)

Also could you update your kernel build file, 2.6.31.14 is the latest and greatest and has many vast improvements. I dread to think if someone decided to build a OE environment for a TO3 board using your current config. It's on PowerDeveloper... works for all boards.

Genesi and 2.6.31.14 it is!

Still need to test on the board.

Nice!

I didn't test build this, but I see you're using the u-boot tarball from the website (which is currently not linked from anywhere anymore); perhaps you want to switch to the gitorious tree instead? It's at http://www.gitorious.org/efikamx/uboot-efikamx.

Unfortunately, neither the tarball-ed nor the git u-boots worked for me; I wonder whether your SD card images have a working u-boot? Are you booting from the SD card with the DIP switches set to "off, off, off, on" and can you see your u-boot version string during boot?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. When I added the support it fetched fine. I still have it in my stash so its used from there. May be I need to update the fetch URIs. I prepare the SD card with root file system modules and kernel only. I am using the shipped version of u-boot still as I did not want to brick the box. Although once it booted the OE kernel and rfs fine I could try it out.

But I thought optimizing packages (uclibc specially and kernel) for cortext a8 would be a better thing to do before I fiddle with u-boot :)

I still have issue with the kernel where it does not shutdown properly when reboot is issued.
