Only a few glitches remaining with mail from/to the autobuilder, apart from that it should be building stuff -I have to upload manually some build-deps like linux-libc-dev to satisfy some vital build-deps, but apart from that it's working fine.

When I finish the mail glitches I'll clone this to the rest of the efikas and we'll be having some real compiling :)

At the moment of writing, efikamx01, efikamx02 and efikamx05 are up and running! 3 and 4 are being setup as we speak!

All buildds mount /home over NBD (which runs on the Pegasos II) and network speed is really nice! All systems are building like crazy!

At last after a lot of frustration, I believe in a few weeks armhf will reach a very usable state :)

Stay tuned! :)

UPDATE: efikamx03 just got online :)
UPDATE2: efikamx04 online as well!

UPDATE: ~450 packages and counting... in less than a day! At that rate, we'll do the whole Debian archive in less than a month :)

Another update: so far in just 2 days, the first batch of 1870 packages have been built. I'll have a bit of package signing and upload to do so please be patient :)

After that, the build-deps of many more packages will be satisfied, so I expect the next few thousand packages to be built in the next few days, etc.

As for the failures, very few packages (~90) failed to build for various reasons. Most of them are fixable and need only a simple patch.

I'll start sending patches to the most important packages in the next days.

Ok, here we have 2599 packages built, the builders are stuck now as there are some build deps missing right now.

#597000 (libx86)

More to follow.

For those interested in more details, the plan is to have most of Debian main unstable (80%-90%) in the next month -two at most- for armhf. By that time we'll also have debian-installer working at least the non-exotic features -though I don't expect any problems, as it's already quite mature on other ARM platforms. The only problem is that the efikamx/iMX515 kernel patches are not mainlined, which only means that we'll have to provide a custom d-i ourselves until those patches get into debian kernel proper. Apart from that, armhf is starting to become a very nice alternative to every other distro for arm. Take into account that it's by definition faster than the alternatives (ubuntu, debian-armel) and soon there will be no competition -for the particular boards/systems, of course :)

Post subject:  small update

another bug report added:

#597502 (mysql)

Also, another update:

http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/a ... e=unstable

So, we're passed the 3000 packages, X is almost built, still some issues with g++ (the reason of most failed build-attempts in the page) and I have to find the culprit if the builds are to continue properly on all autobuilders.

Still, 3k packages in ~10 days, that's quite good :)

Post subject:  Progress update

Ok, today was a very good day! After manually uploading gtk+2.0 packages, about ~400 packages were unlocked (gnome, gpe, moblin and lxde). So all 5 autobuilders started building like crazy. The great news though is that they were DONE COMPILING ~500 PACKAGES in ~12 hours!

This morning there were 3900 packages built for armhf, now there are over 4500 packages built, and we crossed the 50% of the complete archive (main for now):

http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/a ... e=unstable

Also, Hector kindly created a much needed wiki page on Debian about the new port:

http://wiki.debian.org/ArmHardFloatTodo

All in all, I'm very satisfied with the progress so far, sure there are problems, but we'll overcome most of them soon enough. Stay tuned!
