Doesn't help me much, since although I do programming, it's not powerpc stuff specifically, just programming. I'm just interested in the system and willing to pay the 1.5k€ required to get it. But I don't know if I'm that willing to be obliged to develop something specifically for it.

It's have been some while since the announcement. So, any news available? There has been many news updates on Efika, but it's been quite silent about the OSW and I'd be more interested in buying an OSW than an Efika... ;)

this doesn't sound too good. I'm really waiting for this machine!

Although bplan has now time to fine tune the machine, so that it's 100% perfect ;-)

How about a preorder for customers?

We tried that. Our idea was to see if we could get a minimum of 100 orders for a board that would cost $2500. We were not able to get even this number of people/organizations interested. We contacted over 300 different people and organizations with this offer.

Hi !

I've seen that the OSW is not in the Developer's Projects page anymore :-(, but what about the Pegasos 8641D ?
Do we have a chance to see this dual core Peg in a near future ?

Yes, but the OSW developers program is now listed as "TetraPower 970MP" nevertheless. Maybe you want to undo that change then.

What would you tell possible customers who want to know the advantages over available quadcore Xeons?

Hmmm, 1500.- sounds like a fair and competitive price, 2500.- not.

To be true: 1500.- sounds like a nice price for that machine *now*, but over time it will get worse - of course. This said, I think it's more likely that my next machine will be x86-based again, although I would like to stay with PPC despite the problems this would bring with it (no support for recent flash player, video codecs, sun java, ... ).
I really dislike monocultures, but when you need something more powerful than embedded systems, there's not much left other than x86... :-(

Did you ask at Fedora too? Because I don't remember any discussion between the developers and PPC is one of our supported architectures.
