magnetic!

It did not compile straight, had to replace/"edit" some ffmpeg-related parts.
No idea if it runs good, till now i only loaded the gui once to see if this
works...
When I have a newer version ready, I can try to make some .debs...
cheers

@frostwork, magnetic :

I can distribute your debs like I did for Enlightenment e17 so that everyone can do an apt-get install to use it.

Tell me if interested...

Hi!
Compiled the new veejay-0.9.4-beta4 today.
Only compile-error was within libpostproc, which maybe only has to
be upgraded from a newer ffmpeg-cvs-snapshot...
Spending some more time on this would make sense to make a
hopefully useable release...
Thanks geoffrey, I'll ask you via email when its ready :)
regards
frostwork

ps: gmerlin & pitivi seem to be very very interesting,too...
pitivi compiles fine, but doesn't let me to open a media-file from the gui
gmerlin has an empty tree.xml in its config-path & i've absolutely no idea
how I should fill this...mmmh, will keep on trying as they HAVE to get
onto my enlightenmedia-dvd ;)

That would be nice. Thanks for the post.

Frostwork

Excellent. Do you have a Video Capture card to test Veejay? I have a Wintv pci card in my peg. (bttx compatible) would be cool to try it out.

I've got a TerraTvalue (bttv) & a
WinTV PVR-350 hardware-en/decoder card (ivtv).
the 2nd very likely doesn't work with veejay...
cheers
frostwork

EDIT: BTW, is it allowed to include the PVR-350 firmware onto enlightenmedia?
I'd like to support the mythtv-pvr module in it...
(if not I'll fall back to a usb-stick as config-storage...)

Fantastic.. if you get around to it can you please test your latest compile of veejay with both cards?

And since we are delving into the subject so much do you think Cinerella would work? I have kino working but without special altivec switches for compile (or something like that cant remember) its too slow for practicle usage..

Hi!
Which kino version do you have?
Haven't played much with it, but 0.8 seems to work...
Cinelerra once worked from cvs (gentoo had it in their portage)
Unfortunately it's not ppc/altivec optimized & therefore
much too slow to be useable on ppc.
I'll anyway to compile newest cvs for enlightenmedia... :D

I dont have kino installed now as I lost that Debian partion due to a filesystem error : /

However, it had the same problem, pretty unusable due to no altivec being used. It would show video from my Firewire cam actually pretty close to real time with sound and everything, but capture was impossible as was playback iirc It was like 2 yrs ago

If you are using Gentoo, talk to Peiter as he has alot of Altivec working so maybe be able to help with your Enlightenment project. If you dont have it altivec optimized dont even bother putting cinerela in there as its a waste of space.. :?

I usually use the altivec cflags, which of course
anyway doesn't help much to speed up a x86-based
program... :(
(i don't think that cinelerra makes sense, but who knows)
Other promising projects are f.e.:
openmovieeditor
jahshaka
lives....
Tons of progs to fill a dvd ;)

cheers

Hi Frostwork

have you spoken to Pieter or dholm about altivec optimization of video applications??? I think Pieter did some special things when he created the Genesi media center or whatever its called.

RE: Help Compiling Effectv on PPC
2006-03-10 04:27
Hi, before trying to support YUYV, I would like to ask you some reports.

Can you send me an image of the output of EffecTV on your machine? I want to see how the color was wrong.
I want to see the output of RadioacTV and ShagadelicTV.

This problem depends on byte-order. Perhaps we can support PPC machines by adding some patches to the video capturing layer and the output layer.
:D

Hi !

I had this byte order color problem with my Voodoo 5 while trying to run MacOSX via MOL.
I couldn't find a patch for it. I even tried the latest XFree (4.5.0).

Then I changed my gfx card for a Radeon 9250 and I don't have the problem any more.

See there :

Is it the same problem ?
So what is the gfx card that you use ?[/img]

Hi!

Of course I can make some pictures :)
This is somehow an old problem which sometimes occurs in several apps:
I know that f.e. that an older versions of ImageMagick had it once within
dvd::rip & the thumbnails in qdvdauthor are "inverted",too.
As far I know the OpenGL driver from Mplayer has the same issue,
& I think in Xawtv was a similar issue with the libquicktime longer ago (?).
I had similar colors with my voodoo sometimes, this has as far i know
s.th. to do with 15bit v.s. 16bit screens (voodoos only can do 15?).
I use a Radeon9000pro btw...

cheers
