Konstantinos has been trying it on the Pegasos with great results. He even contributed some better (scalar :) code to the authors, which cut down boot times even more.

We'll see what we can do with the Efika. It would be better on a distribution like SuSE or Ubuntu where the boot process is quite slow for many reasons, than those that can be heavily tweaked such as Gentoo.

Just "trying it on Efika" involves a little bit more than compile, run and benchmark :)

I never said it would be easy ;)

If I feel courageaous, I might give it a try on crux.

openSUSE: there is already an einit package in the BuildService by Darix. See http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... 0.i586.rpm

I'll try to recompile it for PPC ang give it a try, once I got factory installed.

I think having it become the standard init on Crux would be a great ego boost for the einit developers.

It's a little less than perfect right now but considering the speed of development and comparing it to the long-winded processes of upstart and so on (it is a much simpler concept/execution of that concept) these problems would be resolved quite speedily..
