My Efika should be on the way soon, and I was looking around for information on how to install linux (debian). I found this link, which while it seems pretty good, I find a bit confusing:

http://www.efika.de/download/Efika.readme.pdf

Is there a better, perhaps easier to follow step by step 'howto'? I want to install linux from a USB pen drive.

Thanks!

"The Gentoo/PPC team, along with Release Engineering, are working on both detailed instructions for installing Gentoo on the EFIKA, as well as CD media capable of booting the EFIKA from USB. Gentoo would like to thank Genesi for its continued support and Freescale for providing the funding to make this program possible."

Thats great :)

:D

Hi.

Gentoo on EFIKA is no problem. I've been running it over NFS for two days already, and there is a Wiki about it here: http://gentoo-wiki.com/Efika

Together with DistCC you can even compile fast :-)

Best regards,
Johan

PurpleAlien, why dont you do a step-by-step installation FAQ for Gentoo from USB stick? :P

That would be cool 8)

Hi.

I don't have that much time, but if none else is doing it, I will make some time available.

I know you want it with pictures/screenshots :-)

Best regards,
Johan

There will be an easy how to in the EFIKA book. It's coming, and not hot but silent ;-)

I have Gentoo running perfect on mine as well. I
first installed Debian and from there I chrooted
to Gentoo. I use kernel_efika for both installs.
I just change the root-path.

Works just fine with DistCC to my other Pegs.
