I'm not sure how to better describe it but my Efika MX smartbook has started "freezing" anywhere from shortly after boot to long after. The screen and interface freezes, nothing seems to effect short of power/reboot.

Any ideas?

That sounds like a hardware issue. Before contacting your re-seller for a replacement, can you see if e.g., the Debian image from:
http://www.powerdeveloper.org/platforms/efikamx/linux
(efikamx-armhf-20120226.img.xz (2012-02-27, 795 MB, XZ Archive)) gives the same issues?

It may not be related but I removed a 3G sim card I was trying and then afterward the problem stopped. I hasn't come back yet so I'll keep watching.

There may be another thread about 3G and lockups.

Ah, ok, that rings a bell. When the 3G sim card is not configured, that problem manifests itself. It only happens with certain providers/sim cards.
