I don't know. Sure, they will be a bit faster, but I already have both a i.MX51 based Smartbook and a Smarttop that I think will be just fine for my needs as soon as they release the HW accelerated media codec's.

According to a comment on the Evolution of the Species blog the i.MX53 smartbooks and smarttops shipped yesterday. Or is he talking about the H/W acceleration updates?

He must have been talking about software, because the imx53 products are not shipping.

It's the i.MX51 based products they have available today (and have had for almost a year now (at least the Smarttop)).

The i.MX53 ones are still under development.
